TRACK IMPROVEMENTS UNDERWAY
Concrete Wall, Paving, Lighting, Wiring & Building Planned

With spring in the air, many projects are underway at Cordova Dragway Park. “We have a lot going on” said Operator Scott Gardner. “Seems like we are going in many different directions all at one time” he continued.

Projects slated to be completed prior to opening day, is the pouring of the new retaining safety concrete wall which replaces the Armco guardrail and the complete re-wiring of the race track timing system. “We have wanted to do the wall for a long time” mentioned Gardner. “Finally, the financing came together to get it done.”

Additional projects slated for competition this spring include, additional pit paving (11 more spots), the final phase of the pit lighting project and a new concession building located on the pit side. In total, more than $200,000 is being spent to improve the facility.

‘It’s a little scary spending this amount of money with the current economic conditions” mentioned Gardner. “However, racers and fans are resilient people and I think they will be here to support us through thick and thin.”
