NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series kicks off 2008 with record high contingency postings NHRA has announced that the contingency postings for its Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series have hit an all-time high of $7,367,800 for 2008. That is an increase of more than $1.2 million over last year. In addition, Lucas Oil Series event winners and runners-up will have their minimum contingency money doubled from $50 and $25, respectively, to $100 and $50. “We are very excited about these developments,” said NHRA Contingency Sponsor Services Manager Charlie Neilson. “I think it speaks volumes about the strength of the series and our sponsors’ belief in it and in NHRA.” The more than $7 million in contingency money that is up for grabs comes from a total of 115 postings, totaling more than $167,000 offered per event. There also are 11 new companies and brands offering new or different product postings. Cordova Dragway Park will host a Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series (LODRS) Event on Friday and Saturday, August 1-2, 2008. More than 500 entries are expected. The event will feature Lucas Oil Supercharged Funny Cars as well as the Lucas Oil Supercharged and Nitro Dragster class.
