2010 MOTORCYCLE/SLED CLASS DETAILS ANNOUNCED

CLASS MOVING TO TRADITIONAL SATURDAY RACING

The Motorcycle/Sled Points Class will be conducted on Saturdays in 2010 at Cordova Dragway Park. “Running the bikes on Friday Night was cool, but took to much time away from the test-n-tune racers on what is traditionally their time for racing” said Scott Gardner. However, we took the best components of the 2009 program and put them into the plan for 2010.

The Motorcycle/Sled Class will be included at most CDP Bracket Points Events, less some of the 2-Wheel Speed events at Byron and Eddyville. Overall, the bikes/sleds will have 11 points races at CDP in 2010. For the complete class details and pay-outs click here.

DOUG FOLEY'S DRAG RACING EXPERIENCE COMING TO CDP SUNDAY, OCT 24 

The popular Doug Foley's Drag Racing Experience is coming to Cordova Dragway Park on Sunday, October 24. The Experience includes the opportunity to drive a high powered dragster, earn your NHRA License or upgrade into a higher NHRA License classification. "This is a unique opportunity that doesn't come around often, as people can learn and then drive a high powered race dragster without having to actually own one" mentioned Track Operator Scott Gardner.

LAYNE AUTOMOTIVE & SPEED SUPER 16 RETURNS IN 2010

The popular Layne Automotive & Speed Super 16 will return in 2010 with 5 race dates beginning on select Saturdays in June. "We are very happy to have Layne Automotive and Speed returning in 2010 with this highly popular race series" said Track Operator Scott Gardner.

The Layne Automotive & Speed Super 16 events qualify the quickest entries on the grounds for a super fast shootout and is popular among the racers and fans.

As a side note, racers that run quicker than 7.49 ET will now have to have the 3.2A/15 pants and suit per NHRA. Those with front engine, supercharged, or turbocharged open bodied cars will need 3.2A/20 pants and suit. Please see the NHRA 2010 protective clothing section of the rulebook for all the details.

NOSTALGIAFEST PRO AND SPORTSMAN CLASS STRUCTURE ANNOUNCED

The NostalgiaFest of Drag Racing, Friday and Saturday, June 25 & 26 is shaping up to be another awesome event on the 2010 Cordova Dragway Park schedule. In addition to special feature cars and dragsters a full line of competition classes are planned. Included in the line-up is the return of the popular Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car Class. DATE SET FOR NHRA CHASSIS CERTIFICATIONS

NHRA will be conducting Chassis Certifications at Cordova Dragway Park on Sunday, April 18 beginning at 9 AM. All vehicles that run 9.99 or quicker on the quarter-mile need to have a current certification. Certifications are good for (3) three years and are $150.00 (sportsman cars).

We are taking reservations beginning at 9 AM. Please call us at 309-654-2110 to be put on the schedule. If the weather is bad, we will conduct certifications inside the maintenance building.

CDP BANQUET REMINDER

It's reminder time for the Championship Awards Banquet which is Saturday, February 13 at Gil's Ballroom in Clinton, Iowa.
Postcards have been mailed out, however, sometimes are not the most reliable in getting to the assigned address. Therefore, if you didn't get a postcard or misplaced the one your received, you can call the office at 309-654-2110 to register or click above for the registration form. Adults are $25 and kids (8-16) are $10, reservations are due by February 8, 2010.

CORDOVA 2010 SCHEDULE RELEASED

The 2010 Cordova Dragway Park schedule of events seems to include something for everyone. Events include the popular Rev-Hard Fun Nights, Points Bracket Events, the 10 for 10K Big Money Bracket Race, NostalgiaFest, The NHRA LODRS, the World Series of Drag Racing plus the all-new True Street Events and many more.

The NostalgiaFest will feature powerful nitro powered Funny Cars, Gassers, Altereds, Super Stocks, Fueled Altereds and more. The all-new True Street Series (the Outlaw Street Car Shootout & Midwest Street Car Finals) will bring exciting new heads-up racing to CDP. The NHRA returns in August will the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and is expected to draw more than 500 race teams. Then the weekend before Labor Day (Aug 26-29) the 57th World Series of Drag Racing returns. The World Series is the oldest continuous drag race in the World with NHRA Nitro Funny Cars, Top Fuel Dragsters, Jets, Wheelstanders and so much more!
